Blessing of the Bikes

Blesssing Bikes VA

Event Information
Event Name Blessing of the Bikes
Event Date/Time Sunday, January 25, 2015   1:00 PM
Host American Legion Post 303
Event Type Benefit – Charity
Event Description The American Legion Post 303 Bonita Springs FL invite all to attend our annual Blessing Of the Bikes on January 25 2015. All proceeds benefit The American Legion Legacy Fund.

The American Legion wants to ensure higher education is a possibility for children whose parents have been killed while serving our country. It is a civic duty to provide them with equal opportunity. The Legion offers its support through the Legacy Scholarship Fund.

There has been a significant shortfall in government money allotted to children with parents lost in war. The government gives these children a college education stipend worth slightly more than $37,000. Taking into account living expenses, textbooks and rising tuitions, this benefit covers only a little more than half of college costs in the most affordable situation. And the price tag of higher learning will only continue to rise. The most conservative estimates predict a 5-percent annual increase, meaning that in 16 years the most affordable college education will be $132,800. Obviously, military compensation will not keep up.

The American Legion’s American Legacy Scholarship fund is designed to help fill the gap for these children. Providing for the children our military personnel leave behind is a civic duty. An education is a powerful way to show our thanks. That is why The American Legion established this scholarship fund. All monies donated to the fund go directly to endow the fund for future needs. The American Legion absorbs all administrative costs for the American Legacy Scholarship. All contributions are tax deductible

The purpose of this Blessing is to provide a gathering to start 2015 riding season with a blessing for the riders to have a safe year, to promote a sense of community and fellowship among riders and to support Veterans charities.

Hundreds of motorcyclist and non-motorcyclists attend the Blessing. The event features live classic rock music by WUMF, and cool country rock sound of Jay Frost. A silent auction always makes this event interesting for all attendees. Food will be available as well as merchandise vendors are invited to sell leather goods, t-shirts,jewelry, and other “biker stuff”
